• When the turn shows, you may only check or bet 
• After the turn and river, you may either check or bet 
• Betting is always done after the show-down 
• All bets must be placed before the cards are flipped 

Poker Basics 

Before playing Texas Hold’em, you’ll want to learn a bit about the basic strategy for the game. Here are the basics: 

Bet or Call –

You can place a bet (that is, risk some of your money) or you can wait until another player does so. If you have nothing better to do, then you should probably wait until someone else makes the first move. 

Check –

If you don’t think you have enough money to stay in the game, you can simply say so. No harm done! 

Raise –

This is where you double your bet. When making a raise, you tell the other person that you want to increase your bet. 

Fold –

This is the final option available to you. If you have nothing left to bet, you can just fold. 

Play Your Cards –

Most people who play Texas Hold’em are interested in making the best hand possible. To accomplish this, you’ll want to keep track of the cards you hold.
